Tribe Lead & Engineering Director

The client was transitioning to a Spotify-inspired tribe structure, consolidating regional teams into a global development organisation. This tribe was tasked with managing and developing the company's central data pipelines. The client needed a leader who could stabilise ongoing projects, establish the new organisation, and bring both technical AI expertise and organisational leadership experience.

The 12-month assignment was structured in two phases. Phase 1 focused on stabilisation and governance; Phase 2 on organisational setup and agile ways of working.

• Assumed responsibility for 23 concurrent projects and introduced standardised project coding
• Mapped vendor invoices to specific projects, improving financial oversight
• Established reporting frameworks providing management with clear overview ahead of restructure
• Onboarded regional employees, identified competence gaps, and managed recruitment
• Established a unified global tribe of 40 members
• Harmonised varying work methods by introducing a shared agile framework and standardised Sprint Planning
